Alvin Soprano, born Alvin Soprano Romanov on May 16, 1994, in Istanbul, Turkey, is a machinima creator, writer, director, producer, voice actor and a model. She was born to a Mongolian Armenian mother, Nourshen Betty Romanov, and a Russian Italian father, Egor Romanov. Throughout her childhood, she lived in Istanbul, Rome, and Moscow, which provided a diverse cultural backdrop that influenced her storytelling.

During high school, Alvin pursued a double major in Literature and Fine Arts, later studying Creative Writing in university while majoring in Cinematography and Animation. Her deep-rooted passion for horror began at the age of five when she accidentally watched an episode of Freddy’s Nightmares. Her fascination with the genre only grew, as she would secretly watch horror films after midnight, an interest her family—longtime horror enthusiasts—enthusiastically supported.

Alvin’s love for The Sims franchise began in 2003 when she discovered The Sims 1 on a family friend’s computer. As a birthday gift, her father Egor, an avid gamer, gave her The Sims 1 Collection with all available expansions. By 2004, she had transitioned to The Sims 2, making her gameplay as eerie and bizarre as possible. She first engaged with the Sims community by posting screenshots of her games on forums and LiveJournal. In 2007, she realized her passion lay not in traditional gameplay but in crafting horror stories, which led to her first machinima, Something Strange in Strangetown (2007), released on YouTube. Encouraged by positive feedback, Alvin continued creating horror machinimas, expanding beyond The Sims into other gaming franchises.

In addition to her machinima work, Alvin began a personal YouTube channel in 2007, shortly after launching her machinima-focused platform. Initially used for casual vlogs about her daily life, the channel evolved in mid-2008 into a weekly series where she read creepypasta stories from the internet. Between 2007 and 2011, she uploaded 107 videos ranging from five to ten minutes in length. In May 2011, she removed all content from the channel and remained inactive until September 23, 2014, when she posted a revival video following the same format: short horror storytelling inspired by online legends and alleged real-life paranormal events. This channel was ultimately deleted with all its content, a total of 133 vlogs, on December 4, 2019—the same day Alvin launched a new machinima channel.

In 2009 Alvin did her first professional modeling job for Waleria Starchuska. She modeled for the SS2009 collection for both the website and the brand’s physical catalogs. On May 7, 2010, she walked her first runway show for the same brand’s SS2010 line and continued to appear in associated campaigns. Since then, she has worked with various fashion labels and photographers as a petite model.

While studying cinematography, Alvin also began exploring live-action filmmaking. In her second year of university, she wrote and directed her first short film, Through Kitty’s Eyes (January 3, 2013), a 13-minute horror piece told from the perspective of a house cat witnessing supernatural occurrences unseen by its owners. Over the next two years, she directed five additional short films—Alexander Not So Great (May 12, 2013), 3 in 1 (February 8, 2014), Genie in a Barrel (October 22, 2014), Past Lives (March 18, 2015), and French Kills (June 11, 2015)—before graduating in 2015. These works spanned genres such as horror, drama, comedy, and mystery, showcasing her range as a filmmaker.

On September 28, 2011, Alvin deleted her YouTube channel, removing all 17 machinimas, and remained inactive in the Sims community until 2017. That year, she co-created a new YouTube channel with her friend Aylin Baykal, producing nine machinimas before permanently deleting the channel on October 3, 2018. On December 4, 2019, she launched another YouTube channel, where she published six Sims 4 machinimas before removing them on March 21, 2021. Finally, on December 13, 2024, Alvin relaunched her YouTube channel with Goodbye Mommy, and the channel remains active, featuring new horror machinimas.

Alvin Soprano writes, directs, and produces her machinimas independently. Jakob Chambers composes the music, and Matthew Gordon co-edits her films. Her work continues to captivate horror and gaming audiences worldwide.
